„An autopoietic machine is a machine organized as a network of processes of production (transformation and destruction) of components which through their interactions and transformations continuously regenerate and realize the network of processes that produced them; and constitute it (the machine) as a concrete unity in space in which they (the components) exist by specifying the topological domain of its realization as such a network…” (Autopoiesis and Cognition: the Realization of the Living H.R. Maturana, F. J. Varela, Boston Studies in the Philosophy and History of Science, 1979)

The installation functions as an autopoietic machine. Sequential switches, clock dividers, low frequency oscillators continuously regenerate choices, impulses and rhythmic structures.
The operator (the composer) adjusts only certain parameters of the experimental setup, leaving the basic functions to the autonomous processes.
